It offers a variety of recreational activities, such as fishing, boating, and swimming.
The park also has a volleyball court, a large multi-purpose field, a baseball field, and a basketball court. Cedar Lane Park is another great spot for outdoor fun. Blandair Regional Park is another great option for outdoor recreation. It offers hiking trails, boating opportunities, and plenty of open space for sports and relaxation. The park is also home to the Howard County Center for the Arts, which hosts concerts and other events throughout the year. In an effort to be a model public health community and preserve its position as the healthiest county in Maryland, Howard County was the first jurisdiction in Maryland with a total ban on smoking and tobacco products of any kind in its 57 county-owned parks and recreational areas.
This park was funded in part by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources's Open Space Grant Program. In 2001, a committee of 23 citizens was appointed to advise the county on the direction it should take in developing the park. Failure to comply with the rules may result in removal from the lake temporarily or permanently, loss of park privileges, and civil criminal penalties established in Section 19.201 of the Howard County Code.
